Why an Outreach Blog?
The Bible is clear that we have a responsibility to "Go" and "Tell" to share the truth of salvation and to make disciples. Crossroads has a core value that says, "Lost people matter to God, therefore they matter to us!" and encourage that it's lived out in our daily lives.
As Crossroads Outreach Team [made up of people with a passion to see "The Great Commission" Jesus gave us carried out], we find ourselves with one question, two meanings:
How can we get the word out?
1. "How can we get THE WORD out?" - THE WORD of salvation. The Bible and the truth contained within it.
2. "How can we get the word out ?" - about the variety of Outreach opportunities. Encouraging participation.
The truth is Jesus did not say, "Hey those of you that feel like it, tell someone else about me." or "If you have a desire to be a missionary to another country, then be a light in the world." He meant for each and every one of us who are followers of Christ to be a light ... to go and tell.
If you're thinking that the expectation is that you pack up your life and head to the nether regions of the world - maybe God has given you a desire to do that, but what you will find here are opportunities like passing out free water at the county fair or serving lunch at a shelter or distributing Christmas gifts or school supplies to children who may not have them otherwise. Outreach is something you can do as an individual, families, friends and small groups. Keep up to date here on what's coming soon!
